Wiki vs Wikimedia vs MediaWiki

At this point, almost every internet user knows about Wikipedia — it's translated into +300 languages, has over 55 million articles, and attracts 1.7 billion unique visitors per month. As of 2021, it's the 13th most visited site on the internet. Although MediaWiki sounds similar, its a different thing that people often get confused with the term wiki, Wikimedia, and MediaWiki. Below we'll cover what each one means and how they relate to one another.

Wiki

"Wiki" is the overarching name for a cross-linked website that is produced and edited by the community that frequents it. Wikipedia is the most well-known wiki.

Wikimedia
