Wiki vs Wikimedia vs MediaWiki

At this point, almost every internet user knows about Wikipedia — it's translated into over +300 languages, has over 55 million articles, and attracts 1.7 billion unique visitors per month. As of 2021, it's the 13th most-visited site on the internet. Although MediaWiki sounds similar, it's a different thing that people often get confused with the terms wiki, Wikimedia, and MediaWiki. Wiki

"Wiki" is the overarching name for a cross-linked website that is produced and edited by the community that frequents it. Wikipedia is the most well-known wiki.

Wikimedia
